received other visas able to live in Thailand.

People who hold Thai nationality or come to support a family residing in Thailand, a type O visa (NON-IMMIGRANT O) is required, if the family is of Thai nationality. After entering Thailand with an O visa will be able to work and have a work permit.

How to get a visa

Family Visa (Non-O)
Apply online at a Thai embassy or consulate overseas, including in Japan, or enter Thailand on a visa exemption and change to a Non-Immigrant O (Non-O) visa.
The required documents vary by location and must be confirmed. They also depend on whether the family member is a Thai national or a foreign resident, as well as their relationship (e.g., spouse, child).

※ Following the enactment of the law recognizing same-sex marriage in Thailand in January 2025,
Thai-Japanese same-sex couples (both male and female) who have registered their marriage in Thailand are now eligible to apply for a spouse visa (Non-Immigrant O / Non-O)
